What Is Concrete Grinding?
Concrete grinding is one of a few methods utilized to profile concrete, in an effort to achieve a mechanical bond with coating installations. Surface grinding also helps us smooth out imperfections that sometimes result during the finishing of concrete or to "clean" the substrate so we can mitigate-repair defects. Secondary to surface preparation is coatings, adhesive and mastic removal, which is just as it states, removing all of these by any other means is generally futile.
What Equipment is Used?
Concrete surface grinding requires the use of professional grade concrete grinders, dust extraction equipment, trained personnel and occasionally other associated equipment. There are two types of grinders, planetary & rotary, we only use rotary, as they're known to be excellent machines for both surface preparation and polishing. What is also key to successful surface preparation of the surface, is the selection of diamond tooling that is installed in our machines, as oftentimes different surfaces warrant different tooling.
Our Method
We utilize our grinders, along with diamond tooling, to profile concrete to a Concrete Surface Profile or CSP 2-3, which is ideal for wide variety of different applications. We primarily use our equipment to profile surfaces that we’ll coat, but occasionally we’ll profile concrete for other applicators or even homeowners.
